How To Load The Olympus Trip 500 35mm Film Camera - Sidekick Camera

How To Load The Olympus Trip 500 35mm Film Camera

Step 1:  Insert Batteries Into Camera

Before loading film into the Olympus Trip 500, you will need to insert two AA batteries into the camera.  The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the camera.  Open the battery door by sliding it outwards and up.  Insert the two AA batteries into the camera as described by the + and - signs on the interior of the battery compartment.

Step 2:  Open Film Door

The film is loaded into the back of the camera.  Pop open the film door by pressing upwards on the latch on the left hand side of the camera.

Step 3:  Place Film Canister Inside Of Camera

Take your film canister and set it onto the spool on the right side of the camera.  The spool should insert into the open bottom of the film canister so that the film itself is hanging out to the left.  Gently take the exposed film and pull it to the left so that the end of the film is hanging past the spool on the left hand side of the camera.  Make sure that the film is laying flat and gently close the film door on the back of the camera.

Step 4:  Turn On Camera

The Olympus Trip 500 will not load film until it is turned on.  So, go ahead and turn on the camera by switching the dial on the front of the camera to the left.  You will see the lens cover slide out of the way so that the lens is exposed.  There are no indicator lights showing that the camera is on - anytime the lens is open it is on.

Step 5:  Press Shutter Button

The last step to load film in the Olympus Trip 500 camera is to press the shutter button.  The small red light on the front of the camera will light up and you will hear the film wind onto the spool.  Continue pressing the shutter until the counter on the top of the camera says "1".  You are now ready to shoot film photos with your Olympus Trip 500!
